January 2012

Welcome to 2012, the Year of the Dragon, an auspicious year for some. Also, if one is willing to put any credence in popular movies and interpretations of Mayan calendars - the last year for all of us on this earth. I do not believe that this is the case - for I believe that the world as we know it is very slowly going to come to an end - with rising sea levels, terrible storms and other such symptoms caused by climate change. But I am not intending to dwell on the negative, but instead on the positive:

I do not normally make New Year's Resolutions - but this year I have made a list of goals that I hope to achieve. Some are simpler and more easily achievable, but it also includes some far more difficult goals - ones that I might require a little help with.

Writing:
1. Finish editting and publish "Midsummer Knight's Quest"

It is now available on Kindle and I am awaiting my printed proof copy for approval before publication.

2.Come up with a new plot idea for NaNo - something fresh, exciting and marketable.
The current plan is to write a novel around Tiriki, the kea that stars in "Aroha's Grand Adventure". This is intended to increase awareness of the dangers that face one of our most charasmatic birds.

3. Distribute my ebooks via Kobo/Whitcoulls epub.
I have signed the contract with Kobo and will hopefully be able to release through them soon.

4. Finish my "Stickybeak" picture book (ie: colour it)
I've already done the lineart but I might need to redo some of it.

Art:

1. Keep active auctions up on trademe - such as $1 Collectible Art Cards
View them here

2.Complete my NZ Naturally Tarot Deck.
I am going to make these to take to the US on our Epic Roadtrip.

3.Get at least one paying commission per month
This is the one where I need YOUR help! I have already failed this for January, please help me suceed in it for February.
My commission details are here

"Aroha's Grand Adventure" follows the adventures of a small bird braving many dangers to make her way home. Aimed at ages 8+, it is funny, exciting and a wee bit educational too.

The book is available from Amazon in paperback for $13.49 or ebook for $1.99.
